The safety of our City is paramount, and we are privileged to have our own police force in the City. We need to continue to monitor the City of London Police and keep them accountable. By fostering collaboration, we can implement innovative and practical solutions. Issues that impact our residents and business must be tackled, being it abandoned hire bikes on pavements, anti-social behaviour or general street safety.
Our residents and those visiting the City should feel able to enjoy without concerns about personal safety.
The City’s success and importance as the world's centre for innovation and new technologies is fundamental. The City has the opportunity to be in centre of the innovation in FinTech, Cybersecurity, IT and finance innovations, the best place in the world to scale a business and take solutions from IP creation through to widespread adoption.
Businesses and residents together - Our Business Improvement Districts (BIDs), including Culture Mile and Fleet Street Quarter, are advancing an ambitious agenda to engage the local business community. There is also great potential for BIDs to advocate for residents’ interests. Working together - the council, BIDs and the local community - will be key to ensuring mutual benefit and shared success to all.
From fostering educational opportunities to supporting healthcare and community development.
The City of London Corporation and its Family of Schools are committed to delivering world-class education based on a broad and balanced approach to develop the whole child and create a lifelong love of learning.
Education is the foundation of our future. As a school governor at the Leigh Stationers' Academies, I have seen first hand what high-quality education looks like and how effective governance supports well-run schools. Continued investment in education is essential to nurturing the next generation and securing a prosperous future for all.
While the City keeps evolving and new developments rise across the City, considerate construction must remain a priority. It is essential to ensure that residents are heard, disruptions are minimised, and safety is upheld at all times.
I'm passionate about the City, its history, traditions as well as the charitable impact of the Livery Companies. I became Freeman of the City in 2009 and have been closely involved with livery companies ever since.
The findings from Pan Livery Impact report 2022 show that the Livery movement provides a range of philanthropic support to deserving causes – both from the careful management of historic assets and from the time and funds provided by its current membership.
City itself has incredible assets under its care from the Guildhall Galleries (including the City of London Heritage Gallery, Guildhall Art Gallery, City of London Police Museum and London’s Roman Amphitheatre) to Monument and Tower Bridge; and from the Billingsgate Roman House and Baths to Keats House.
This incredible, combined portfolio gives City significant advantage and potential as destination, but also something we should be very proud of and celebrate!
